Mission: Millions of times each year at thousands of locations around the world, the USO lifts the spirits of America’s troops and their families. A nonprofit, congressionally chartered, private organization, the USO relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations and corporations to support its activities. The USO is not part of the U.S. government, but is recognized by the Department of Defense, Congress and President of the United States, who serves as Honorary Chairman of the USO.
Mission: Since 1892, the Sierra Club has been working to protect communities, wild places, and the planet itself. They are the largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization in the United States. And the founder, John Muir, appears on the back of the California quarter.
Mission: The Food Bank Coalition is the only countywide source of nutritious food for people in need from San Miguel to Nipomo. Working hand in hand with volunteers, donors, corporate sponsors and non-profit agency partners, it’s our mission to see that no one in our county goes hungry.
Mission: PFLAG promotes the health and well-being of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender persons, their families and friends through: support, to cope with an adverse society; education, to enlighten an ill-informed public; and advocacy, to end discrimination and to secure equal civil rights. Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is healthy and respectful of human diversity.
Mission: Kelrik’s mission is to provide young people with high quality, innovative, participatory theatre arts education and training, taught by theatre professionals and teaching artists; to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve; and to help our students develop skills and broaden their horizons, as people and as artists.
